NEW HARTFORD — Hospice and Palliative Care will hold its annual Butterfly Release Celebrations on Wednesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. at the Utica College Library Concourse and Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. at Herkimer College.

The Butterfly Release Celebration, organizers say, offers a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize a loved one by sponsoring a butterfly in their name.

The highlight of the events will be the individual release and flight of hundreds of Monarch butterflies. The events include live music and refreshments.

Proceeds support hospice care, palliative services and bereavement support to those who live on Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties.

Sponsorship is $25 per butterfly, or five for $100.

Butterflies can be released on behalf of those unable to attend. For more, visit hospicecareinc.org.

“The Annual Butterfly Release offers our community a chance to remember or honor a loved one in a very beautiful and meaningful way,” said event co-chair Jan Corn.
