Home Depot Distribution Center headed to region
SCHUYLER — The Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency, in partnership with Bloom Utica, LLC, has announced that Home Depot will locate a distribution center at the Schuyler Business Park off of Route 5.
The site work is expected to begin this fall and construction is set to commence in the spring of 2023.
“This is a great opportunity for Herkimer County and the town of Schuyler as we continue to bring economic development to our area,” said John Piseck, chief executive officer of the IDA.
The estimated $9 million project will consist of the acquisition, construction, and equipping of a single-load 52,500 square foot distribution facility with 15 dock doors, 50 automobile stalls, 34 box truck stalls, and office space located at Andrew Usyk Sr. Drive.
The facility will be constructed using a pre-engineered metal building system on an 11-acre parcel in the park.
“We are beyond thrilled to have another business join the Schuyler Business Park. There are currently two other facilities on this property that have joined since our purchase of the land in 2020, and we look forward to bringing other businesses to the area in the near future” said Chairman of the IDA’s Board of Directors Jim Bono.
In 2020, the IDA purchased an additional 188 acres at the business park. The Home Depot center will join Pepsi and The Fountainhead Group, which also has located projects at the site. Employment opportunities at the Home Depot Distribution Center will be announced in the future, the announcement said.
The IDA offers several possible incentives, including real property tax abatement, sales tax exemption and mortgage recording tax exemption, the announcement added.
