Holland Patent moves on to state regional

Section III Class B field hockey champion Holland Patent scored a pair of second-half goals to edge Section II champion Burnt Hills 2-1 on Wednesday in a sub-regional state playoff game at Gloversville High School.

Anna Healey and Haley Acevedo scored one goal each to lead the Golden Knights, who improved to 17-1-1 overall.

HP goalie Ella Buchanan made six saves, while her counterpart Senja Matson collected five saves.

Molly Pochobradsky scored the lone goal in the first half for 16-4 Burnt Hills on an assist from Emma Mitchell.

HP advances to the state regional and will travel to Section IV champion Vestal at 3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon.

Camden edged in OT

Im a Class C sub-regional state playoff game at Gloversville High School, Section III champion Camden was edged by Section II champion Johnstown 2-1 in overtime.

Chloe Hite scored an unassisted goal for the Blue Devils with 3:37 left in regulation to tie the game at 1-1.

Camden goalie Kendra Igoe made 19 saves in net.

“Kendra played the game of her life tonight in goal for us,” Camden coach Shannon McPheron said. “She came up with some huge saves to keep us in the game.”
