Holland Patent celebrates Class of 2022 with ceremony


HOLLAND PATENT  — The Holland Patent Central School District, family, friends and community members gathered on Friday night on the high school athletic field to help 102 new graduates celebrate with the district’s 143rd commencement ceremony.

The event began with a welcome from Principal Russell E. Stevener Jr. followed by the traditional processional complete with a rendition of Pomp and Circumstance.

Robert White, president of the Class of 2022, led the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The national anthem was then sung by Holland Patent seniors Meghan Baldwin, Jordan Carhart, Jacob David, Molley Gage, Autumn Kneezle, Hunter Maunz, Corrine Newland, Myra Parzych, Molly Schreyer, Kyle Vienneau, Richard Zielinski and Kelsey Zimmerman.

Stevener recognized graduates heading off to the military and the salutary address was given by Glen Gaige.

Following a recognition of faculty, Baldwin provided the profile of the Class of 2022 and Stevener provided an academic recognition of the graduates.

Vienneau delivered the valedictory address and a recognition of the class standard bearers was given by Superintendent Cheryl Venettozzi and Stevener, who also recognized the school district’s foreign exchange

Senior music students performed “For Good,” and Venettozzi then presented the candidates for graduation. Lydia Berez-Kelly, president of the board of education, gave a proclamation of graduation and diplomas were presented by members of the board of education. Board members are Berez-Kelly, Michael Grant, Dr. Noel Gaige, William Paolozzi, and Kathy Smyth.
