HOCKEY ROUNDUP: Premo lifts RFA to Senior Night hockey win; Whitesboro falls

Jake Premo scored two goals and had an assist on his Senior Night Wednesday for the Rome Free Academy hockey team in an 8-1 win against the Mohawk Valley Jugglers in a divisional game.

Jake Premo scored two goals and had an assist on his Senior Night Wednesday for the Rome Free Academy hockey team in an 8-1 win against the Mohawk Valley Jugglers in a divisional game.

Jimmy DeAngelo also scored twice for RFA. Brandon Natale and Johnny Wilson had a goal and assist each.

Also scoring a goal each were Carmen Orton and Nick Toth-Ratazzi. Jack Pylman, Tyler Wilson, Chris Brement, Jacob Bruno, Johnny Sharrino, Tanner Spina and Logan Waterman.

Senior Braeden Sturtevant made 10 saves for RFA for the win in goal.

MV’s Eric Hubal scored on an assist from Kyle McReynolds.

In goal for MV, Noah Narolis allowed six goals and made eight saves in the loss. Evan Buckingham came on in relief, allowing two goals and making six saves.

RFA (11-5-3) plays at Cazenovia at 6:30 Friday night in the division to end the regular season.

MV finishes the regular season at 4-14.

Whitesboro falls to late scoring burst

Cortland/Homer scored four times in the third period to beat Whitesboro 5-1 in Whitestown Wednesday in Division 2.

Cortland led 1-0 after two periods then erupted for four goals to put the game away.

Garret Clark made 21 saves in net for Cortland to earn the win.

Andrew Partigianoni scored and had two assists. Also scoring once each were Hunter Everle, Finn Thomas, Ryan Spalding and Liam O’Connor. Mitchell Riter had three assists.

Whitesboro’s third period goal was scored by Santino Pedulla on assists from Tyler Stivali and Josh Bono.

Kris Matthews made 33 saves in goal for Whitesboro.

Whitesboro (6-13) hosted Christian Brothers Academy/Jamesville-DeWitt Thursday in the division to end the regular season.
