Clinton girls hockey halt losing streak

The Clinton girls hockey team lost Saturday in Potsdam 4-3 but bounced back with a 7-1 victory over Rockland at home Sunday.

Sunday, Drew Kopek and Kate Elbrecht each scored two goals and Mackinley Ronan added three assists as the Warriors broke a two-game losing streak.

Leah Altieri scored her first career goal and added an assist in the win. Jolee McCraith and Sadie Davignon both added goals while Kopek, Kelsey Fuller, Gracen Grimm and Alyssa Nardslico all had assists.

Elizabeth Lapointe had 10 saves in the win.

On Saturday, Elbrecht scored twice and Isabella Nappi scored her first career goal in a 4-3 loss at Potsdam.

Kopek added two assists while Fuller and Alexa Thompson had one each.

Cassi Adams had 16 saves for the Warriors.

Clinton (9-4) wraps up the regular season with a game at 5:15 p.m. Friday at Canton in non-league play.

RFA hockey skates to a tie

The RFA hockey team trailed 2-1 after two periods but got the game tied. But neither RFA or visiting Watertown IHC could find a goal there and the game ended in a 3-3 tie in league play Saturday.

RFA’s Tyler Wilson scored and had two assists. John Sharrino and Carmen Orton also scored. Jake Premo assisted on all three goals and Jack Pylman added an assist.

Donte Sparace made nine saves and allowed two goals in 38 minutes. Braeden Sturtevant earned the tie in relief, allowing a goal and making 10 saves in 17 minutes.

Watertown’s goals were scored by Luc Lafax, Nate Taylor and Owen VanBraklin.

Brodie McGregor made 27 saves in goal.

RFA (9-2-3) hosts West Genesee, the team at the top of Division 1 with a 12-2 record, at 7 tonight.
