History of Mohawk Airlines topic of talk Sunday

CLINTON — Jim Coulthart, a local aviation enthusiast and historian, will give an hour-long presentation on “The Story of Mohawk Airlines 1945-1972” at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Clinton Historical Society, 1 Fountain St.

Coulthart’s program covers the history of Central New York’s regional airline, from the early years as Robinson Airline through to its demise in the early 1970s. First headquartered in Ithaca, Mohawk Airlines later operated from Oneida County Airport in Whitestown. Topics to be covered will include the evolution of the organization, key personalities, aircraft utilized, and routes. Some air crash tragedies will also be discussed.

Coulthart was the former administrator for Clinton Historical Society from 2019 through 2021 and is a retired corporate executive from the non-profit world, who now spends his time researching military aviation for stories with connections to Upstate New York.
