TOWN OF WARREN — Two counts of murder have been charged against the Herkimer County man accused of stabbing and killing his father and young sister, according to law enforcement officials.

State police said Michael J. Andreev Jr., 22, fatally stabbed his father, 67-year-old Michael J. Andreev Sr., and his 12-year-old sister, Sofia Trusova, at their family home on Route 167 in Herkimer County Sunday night.

The bodies were discovered by law enforcement that night, according to officials.

Andreev Jr. was found at the residence in the front yard with a laceration to his throat, authorities said.

He was treated at University Hospital in Syracuse, and state police said he was taken into custody after being discharged from the hospital. Andreev Jr. is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of fourth-degree possession of a weapon, troopers
stated.

He was arraigned in court and was sent to Herkimer County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe.com page has been set up to help the family under the title “Andreev Family.”

According to the fundraiser, two of Andreev Sr.’s other adult sons flew home to handle funeral arrangements from out of state, and they will be assisting Andreev’s youngest son, age 9, who survived the attack Sunday night.

The GoFundMe page had already raised $3,000 as of Wednesday morning.
