Oneida County executive candidate Michael Hennessy, already on the ballot on the
Democratic and Libertarian lines, has received confirmation he’ll also be on the line of the SAM Party in the Nov. 5 election.
Hennessy’s campaign forwarded to local media a letter from the Oneida County elections commissioners confirming his nomination.
Also known as the Save America Movement, the party was founded by investment-firm lawyer Eric Grossman in 2017.
It gained ballot access in 2018 when former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner won enough votes on the SAM line in the gubernatorial election to qualify the party in the state for four years.
Its platform calls for several election reform measures such as ranked choice voting and increased ballot access for minor parties.
Hennessy faces incumbent Republican Anthony Picente, who is also on the Independence and Conservative ballot lines.
