OLD FORGE — The community is invited to a St. Brigid Day Celebration focusing on becoming more informed eaters, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Old Forge Library, and progressing to Niccolls Church.

The event will consist of hands-on projects that will support healthy and organic eating habits, and presentations about local food.

During the Solstice Celebration, sponsored by the Old Forge Library, Living ADK and Weaving Home, participants will pledge to try to live in harmony and balance with the earth.

Legends about St. Brigid, one of Ireland’s patron saints, tell of her feeding multitudes of people with milk and butter, connecting her to good food, and offering health and healing.

Join the gathering for more information on eating food that is: local, affordable, uncomplicated, good, healthy and seasonal. Attendance is free and all supplies will be provided.
