HERKIMER — The “Historic Four Corners” in Herkimer will open to the “Haunted Historic Tour” from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Herkimer County Historical Society’s 1884 Suiter Museum Building and the 1834 Herkimer County Jail.
Members of the paranormal investigation group “New York Shadow Chasers” will divulge their findings of ghostly evidence in each building. Attendees will meet some of the famous inmates at the jail, like Roxalana Druse and Jean Gianini. The tour includes the third floor of the Suiter museum where the society’s collection is housed, including Dr. Suiter’s autopsy table.
The building was originally owned by Dr. Suiter and used for his medical practice.
Pre-sale tickets are $10 and are available at the Herkimer County Historical Society, 406 N. Main St., Herkimer, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They can also be purchased by mail by sending a check to the Historical Society, 400 N. Main st., Herkimer, N.Y. 13350.
Tickets will be $15 the evening of the event. They will be sold by time slot — tours will leave every 15 minutes. Proceeds will benefit the historical society and the “Friends of Historic Herkimer County” who are renovating the 1834 jail.
