HAPPENING TONIGHT: Church to host Carnival Night

ROME — Immanuel Baptist Church, 1006 W. Embargo St., will host a Carnival Night on the church grounds from 6:30-8 p.m. tonight to kick off its AWANA kids club.

Children and their families may attend and enjoy carnival games, cotton candy, animal-shaped balloons, and more. The carnival is free to attend and does not require registration.

During the carnival, registrations will be accepted for the church’s AWANA club, which will be hosted at the church on Friday nights from 6:30-8 p.m. starting Sept. 23. The AWANA club runs throughout the school year and is open to children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

AWANA nights include devotions, small group sessions to discuss lessons, and game time. Children also enjoy participating in theme nights; competing in contests including car races; and receiving awards for memorizing Bible verses and progressing through the lesson books. AWANA offers fun, friendship and Christian teaching.

Handbooks with information about AWANA will be available during the carnival, and parents are also encouraged to interact with the volunteers to learn more about the club. AWANA registrations and medical forms for children in the club will be due on Sept. 30, but new children are welcome to join throughout the year.
