HAPPENING TODAY: Walk for Unity to take place at Utica University
UTICA — Utica University will host its annual Walk for Unity, at 3 and 4 p.m. today.
The event is held every year to celebrate and appreciate our similarities and our differences, and who we are as human beings, and to recognize diversity both on and off the university campus, according to an announcement by event organizers.
Following the 4 p.m. walk, there will be a rally on the back lawn of Strebel Student Center, featuring music by the college’s radio station WPNR, fall refreshments and a signing of the Stance Statement.
“I see the Unity Walk as a way to show how diversity betters our campus,” said Caph Dias ’25, an animal behavior major. “Everyone plays a part in bettering Utica University.”
The walk begins at Duffy Plaza just behind Boehlert Hall and will wind around campus, ending at Strebel Student Center, the announcement said. Additionally, various offices, departments and groups on campus will create their own unique Unity Walk displays, showcasing different themes that promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
