Hannaford bag program to aid Rome Community Foundation
ROME — Reduce single-use plastic in the environment and give back to those in need in the local community, all while running routine weekly errands at the local Hannaford, according to officials with the Rome Community Foundation which has been selected by local Hannaford store leadership as the benefiting non-profit in the Community Bag Program for May.
The Hannaford Community Bag Program is a way for shoppers to give back to the local community and the environment as part of the regular shopping routine. Every $2.50 reusable Community Bag sends a $1 donation to a non-profit local to the Hannaford in which it was purchased.
As part of this ongoing program, every month at every Hannaford location a different
local non-profit is selected to benefit from the sale of the reusable Community Bag.
The Rome Community Foundation was selected as the May beneficiary by local store
leadership at the store located at 808 W. Chestnut St. The Rome Community Foundation will receive a $1 donation for every $2.50 reusable Community Bag purchased at this location this month.
“It’s more important than ever to help reduce single-use plastic in the environment,” said
Victor Fariello, executive director of the Rome Community Foundation. “Non-profits at the local level, like us, are in need of community support. We are very pleased to have been selected for this program.”
The Rome Community Foundation was established in 1999 and makes grants to charitable organizations in Rome and contiguous towns for capital needs. For more information visit www.romecommunityfoundation.org.
