Hamilton College freshman Peyton Sichol opened play in the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship Tuesday afternoon at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Sichol is one of six individuals not from the 29 qualifying teams selected for the national championship. She teed off in the first round at 1:50 p.m. on the first hole at El Campeon Golf Course. Sichol is playing with Sarah Kmiecik from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Greta McArthur from Bethel University.

Sichol is the first Hamilton women's golfer in the NCAA championship since the team earned varsity status for the 2012-13 season. She has an 18-hole stroke average of 77.78 after 18 rounds this season. Sichol was the individual medalist in Middlebury College's George Phinney Classic, tied for fifth in one tournament, tied for sixth in another, finished eighth in the NESCAC Championship Qualifier and 10th in two tournaments.

Sichol has already played two rounds at this venue in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Fall Preview back on Sept. 18 and 19. She landed in 10th place out of 94 golfers with a 36-hole total of 151, including a team-leading 74 in the final round.
