Hamilton College suffers setback


Hamilton College football fell to 2-4 over the weekend after a 21-0 loss to host Amherst College on Saturday.

Amherst held a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Joe Cairns was 15-of-26 for 171 yards and four interceptions for the Continentals. He ran for 51 yards on 17 carries.

On defense, Mike Cairns made 11 total tackles, 10 solo and one assisted.

Hamilton plays again on Saturday when it host Tufts at 1 p.m.

Pioneers routed

Utica College took a 45-0 road loss to host SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Sonny Badyna was 10-of-19 through the air for 40 yards and an interception.

The Pioneers ran for 72 yards on 27 carries. James Salles had 60 of those yards on 18 carries.

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill graduate Nate Palmer had four catches for 18 yards to lead UC.

Utica College, 4-3, at home for SUNY Morrisville at noon on Saturday in the Believe Bowl.
