The Hamilton College football team had its share of struggles Saturday in a shutout road loss at Trinity College.

Hamilton was forced to punt nine times, missed a 25-yard field goal attempt and also had a pair of turnovers on downs.

Trinity, meanwhile, scored on each of its four first-half drives and totaled 504 yards on offense in earning a 45-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference win at Tansill Muldoon Stadium in Hartford, Connecticut.

Spencer Fetter threw for 304 yards and three scores on 27 of 39 passing for the Bantams, who are one of the two undefeated teams in the conference at 4-0. He had no interceptions.

With the result, Hamilton dropped to 1-3 this fall. NESCAC teams only play conference games in football.

Hamilton was limited to 140 yards offensively. It is the first time since Oct. 23 of last season that Hamilton has been shut out in a game.

Hamilton’s Matt Banbury was 12 of 27 passing for 87 yards. Joe Cairns relieved Banbury in the fourth and was 3 of 5 for 21 yards.

Matt LoPresti was credited with a career-high 13 tackles and recovered a fumble for Hamilton.

The Continentals are next scheduled to play at Williams (1-3) on Saturday in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
