Halloween in Hamilton features parade, free movie

HAMILTON — The Village of Hamilton, in partnership with the Colgate Bookstore, will reprise its “Halloween in Hamilton” celebration for the third year.

On Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Colgate Bookstore invites residents to create a glowing “dream jar,” design their own “Big Friendly Giant” ears, and enjoy snacks.

At 4 p.m. begins the costume parade down Lebanon Street, and shops along the way will hand out candy to those in costume. Note that traffic on Lebanon Street will be closed from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

At 4:30, the Hamilton Movie Theater will screen “The BFG” (2016) with free admission, sponsored by the Colgate Bookstore. Based on the classic children’s novel by Roald Dahl, “The BFG” tells the story of an orphan who befriends a benevolent giant.

After the screening, the village will be safely open for trick-or-treaters.
