A gun buy-back community event will be held at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 1807 Bedford St., on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The event will be hosted by the state Attorney General’s Office. People will receive $250 for assault weapons, $150 for handguns, $75 for rifles and shotguns and $25 for non-working and antique firearms, officials said, adding there is not a limit to the number of guns that can be surrendered.
All payments will be made via prepaid gift cards at the site, after the guns are turned over. Guns must be unloaded when they are dropped off. If bringing a firearm in your vehicle, officials said it must be placed in the trunk.
All guns should be in a box or bag when dropped off, officials said, adding that the event is an amnesty program and no questions will be asked of the people dropping off the guns.
Identification is not required.
The event is not open to licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement
