CLINTON — Mohawk Valley Chapter Retired Public Employees Association will host a trip to see the Broadway musical, “State Fair,” at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Auburn on Friday, Aug. 26.

Cost is $100 per person, with a driver tip included. Seats must be reserved and payment must be received by July 15. There will be limited seating.

Attendees will depart from the upper parking lot at Sangertown Square mall in New Hartford at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be at 11:45 a.m. at Springside Inn in Auburn. It will be a sit-down meal featuring salad, rolls, vegetable, dessert, coffee, tea or milk and a choice of the following three entrees: roast sirloin of beef with mushroom gravy; Chicken Francias, egg-battered chicken breast in lemon, white wine butter sauce; or baked haddock with lemon butter and a side of lemon and tartar sauce.

Arrival at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse will be at 1:30 p.m. “State Fair the Musical” will begin at 2 p.m. “State Fair” was the only Rodger & Hammerstein musical written directly for the screen. Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, “State Fair” travels with the Frake family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair.

The musical features some well-known Rodgers & Hammerstein songs with an Academy Award-winning score.

Attendees will depart the theater at 4 p.m., and arrive back to New Hartford by approximately 6:30 p.m.

To make a reservation, contact Pat Sheppard at 315-922-7580 or patch4@roadrunner.com. Checks should be made payable to RPEA, and sent to Sheppard at 224 Higby Road, Utica, N.Y. 13501.
