The hanging of banners in Rome to lift the spirits of residents and visitors amid the COVID-19 situation was praised by the Genesis Group of the Mohawk Valley region.
The Genesis Group’s comments Tuesday were in conjunction with announcing its “Our View” initiative that will focus on “pertinent issues and opportunities impacting our community.”
“We think it’s a great idea that the City of Rome and the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce are
continuing the tradition of hanging...banners in the city to inspire residents and visitors,” said the Genesis Group.
City representatives last week noted the banners, including “Keep the Spirit” and “Rome United” messages, were geared to keep enthusiasm for the community and for events canceled due to COVID-19 including the annual summer Honor America Days celebration. Traditionally banners leading up to Honor America Days had been hung including in the downtown area.
Of the recent inspirational banners hung, the Genesis Group said it “believes that acts like this are the best way to keep people positive and to create vibrancy in the community.”
The Genesis Group seeks to unite individuals and organizations dedicated to adaptive leadership and to creating positive impact in the Mohawk Valley region.
