ONEIDA — The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley’s annual Changing Lives Golf Tournament, held Friday, Sept. 16, at Oneida Community Golf Club, is one of the Y’s annual fundraising events to benefit the Changing Lives Campaign.

“For every $200 raised through this tournament, a child can attend YMCA Summer Camp or receive a YMCA membership,” said tournament committee chairman John Elberson. “This year’s tournament raised $25,000 for the campaign.”

“This is an example of how two communities — Oneida and Rome – can work together and change lives for the better,” said YMCA CEO Hank Leo. “The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley is committed to serving everyone in our communities and never turns anyone away regardless of their inability to pay for memberships or programs.”

“Every year, we award approximately $400,000 in financial assistance through our Changing Lives Campaign,” Leo said.

The YMCA 35th Annual Changing Lives Golf Tournament was held in memory of Frank Martinelli, a past Y member and YMCA board of directors president.

“Frank’s commitment to the Y’s mission was unwavering,” Leo said. He also thanked the members of the 2022 golf tournament committee, which includes, in addition to himself, Craig Bailey, John Elberson, Bruce Hairston, Brandon Lovett, Vinny Martinelli, Jr., and Jeff Rowlands.

“We are grateful for all who participated in the tournament and for our community sponsors,” Elberson said.
