The Holland Patent boys wrestling team won four of six contested bouts in a 57-18 win over Rome Free Academy Wednesday on the road.

Eli Doxstader (118 pounds), Trent True (160) and Jordan Koenig (189) won by pin for HP. Anthony Amidon got a narrow 7-5 win at 172 pounds over RFA’s Tyler Morgia.

HP also took six forfeits.

For RFA, Chad Tennant (138) and Ryan Wright (285) both won by pin. The Black Knights also took one forfeit win.

HP will participate on a tournament at Central Valley Academy Saturday.

RFA wrestles next at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Whitesboro.

Thompson scores OT winner for Clinton

Alexa Thompson scored with less than a minute left in overtime to give the Clinton girls hockey team a 2-1 victory over host Skaneateles Wednesday in Section III play.

The goal was assisted by Kate Elbrecht and Lauren Rey.

The Warriors sent the game into overtime on Kelsey Fuller’s goal on assists from Abigail Dicks and Drew Kopek with less than five minutes to play in the third period.

Casey Clausen made 17 saves in the win.

The Lakers’ lone goal was scored by Scout Oudemool. Goalie Isabelle Wells made 22 saves.

Clinton (7-2) travels to Oswego for a league game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Dewar’s 21 help HP to hoops win

Jeff Dewar led Holland Patent with 21 points and Nick Acevedo and Andrew Jones both added 18 points for the Golden Knights in a 76-51 home win over Oneida in boys basketball Wednesday in the Tri-Valley League.

Austin DeGroat led Oneida with 20 points. Kannon Curro added 11 points.

HP (4-2) hosts Canastota at 12:30 Saturday in non-league play.

Oneida (2-5) hosts New Hartford at 6:30 tonight in the league.

Hot start for Waterville

The Waterville girls basketball team opened Wednesday’s game on an offensive tear, leading 18-6 after a quarter and 37-15 at the half in a 59-43 win over Sauquoit Valley in the Center State Conference.

Waterville’s Natalee Collins and Valorie Ford each had a double-double, with Collins scoring 19 and grabbing 11 rebounds while Ford had 12 points and 13 boards.

Alaina Weaver had a game-high 23 points for Sauquoit, including four three-pointers.

Waterville (4-3) plays at Mount Markham at 7 tonight in the league.

Sauquoit (0-7) visits Sherburne-Earlville for a league game at 6 p.m. Monday.

Petersen leads VVS past Clinton

Anna Petersen led all scorers with 15 points to power Vernon-Verona-Sherrill past visiting Clinton in girls basketball Wednesday 42-28 in a non-league game.

Peterson also had five rebounds, four steals and four assists. Kylie Watts added 13 points.

Clinton was led by Abby Hemstrought with 13 points.

VVS improves to 1-3 and hosts TVL foe Proctor at 7 tonight.

Clinton (7-2) hosts Center State opponent Westmoreland at 7 tonight.

Proctor hangs on against HP

The Thomas R. Proctor girls basketball team led 23-11 at the half, weathered a burst of scoring by Holland Patent in the third and held on for a 33-29 non-league win Wednesday.

HP outscored the Raiders 12-2 in the third but couldn’t quite close the gap.

Proctor was led by Kavashia Archie and Lleneila Rodriguez with 11 points each.

Terra McLaughlin had a team-high nine points for HP along with five steals. Emily Carlson had nine rebounds.

Proctor (4-3) plays at VVS at 7 tonight in the TVL.

HP (5-3) plays at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Camden in the TVL.

Spartans eke out basketball win

The New Hartford girls basketball team trailed 24-20 at the half at West Genesee Wednesday but crept back into the game and got a slim 38-36 win in non-league play.

Danielle Lucas and Ava Brazier each put up 10 points for the Spartans in the win.

Statistics for West Genesee were not provided.

New Hartford hosts Oneida at 7 tonight in the TVL.

Camden defense shines in win

The Camden girls basketball team held host Stockbridge Valley to nine points in the second half in a 40-22 win Wednesday in non-league play.

The Blue Devils led 15-13 at the half then outscored Stockbridge 16-2 in the third quarter to blow open the game.

Camden’s Katie McCarthy had a game-high 11 points and teammate Erica Zike scored 10.

Stockbridge Valley’s Alissa Mazzye had a team-high nine points.

Camden improved to 2-4 and will play a TVL game at Rome Free Academy at 6:30 tonight.

Bulldogs volley past Marauders

The Westmoreland girls volleyball team defeated host New York Mills 3-1 Wednesday in non-league play.

The Bulldogs won sets 25-23 then 25-22 before the Marauders won the third set 25-23. Westmoreland closed out the win with a 25-19 set win.

Westmoreland’s Ava Geglia had seven kills, eight digs and four aces. Bailee Serianni had six kills, 12 digs, nine assists and four aces. Tessie Shafer had 12 assists, 10 digs, four kills and a pair of aces. Marlee Shafer had 13 digs, five aces and five kills.

New York Mills’ Jamene Duymaz had five kills, six digs and four blocks. Tala Marchese had four kills and six digs.

Westmoreland (5-5) hosted Sherburne-Earlville Thursday. Results were not available at press time.

New York Mills (3-6) plays at 7 tonight at Remsen in the Center State.

Dolgeville volleyball wins

The Dolgeville girls volleyball team got a 3-0 win at home over Frankfort-Schuyler Wednesday in the Center State.

The Blue Devils won sets 25-12, 25-10 and 25-7.

Statistics for Dolgeville were not submitted.

For Frankfort, Carloyn Roser had two kills and Isabella Suppa had five digs.

Dolgeville (6-1) hosts Adirondack at 7 tonight in the league.

Frankfort (2-5) hosts Herkimer at 7 tonight in the league.

Clinton tops Waterville in volleyball

The Clinton girls volleyball team beat host Waterville 3-2 Wednesday.

The Warriors won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-20 before Waterville came back with set wins of 25-18 and 25-21. Clinton won the last set 15-12 to take the match.

Dakota Deveans had eight kills, 11 digs and seven aces for Clinton. Kelsey Smith had 15 assists, four aces, four digs and three kills.

Statistics for Waterville were not submitted.
