Goalie scores twice as Utica snaps Baltimore home streak


BALTIMORE — Utica City FC defeated the Baltimore Blast 9-1 to snap Baltimore’s 18-game home win streak Friday night.

Logan Roberts scored a first-half hat trick and goalie Andrew Coughlin scored two goals of his own after Baltimore pulled their goalkeeper.

Liam Callahan and Joey Tavernese also scored for Utica as the first half ended with Utica in control 5-0.

Jake Schindler scored lone the goal for Utica in the third quarter, assisted by Jelovac. Baltimore struck early in the fourth quarter to spoil Coughlin’s shutout.

With the Blast going with a sixth attacker, Coughlin then scored twice into an empty net before Bo Jelovac closed the scoring with another goal into the empty net.

Utica City FC returns to the Utica Aud at 2 p.m. on Sunday to take on the Mississauga MetroStars.
