Glenn E. Walker


TOWN OF LEE — Glenn E. Walker, 96, a lifelong dairy farmer, passed away June 1, 2019 in the comfort of his home.

He was born in the Town of Westmoreland on April 23, 1923 a son of Grant and Evelyn Evans Walker. He grew up in Westmoreland and then helped his father operate the family farm on Struen Road, Glenn then purchased the farm, which he operated for many years. He married Gertrude T. Gookins, September 30, 1945, she died in July 1973. He married Eileen Hanschen in May 1976. She predeceased him in 1978. On August 11, 1979 he married Rosemary Smith; she died February 14, 2014. After Glenn retired he moved to Capron road in the 1990’s. For a time he was employed at Bartell Machine Shop and Oneida National Bank. He was a member of Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department, First United Methodist Church, Rome and he served on the Town of Lee Zoning Board for a number of years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, mowing his lawn and the outdoors.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Linda Walker, Rome; a daughter, Jane Rumble, town of Lee, three grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Glenn was predeceased by an infant son Bernard in 1951, one sister Rena Rasha, son-in-law Michael Rumble in 2007, stepdaughter and step son-in-law Lucille and Albert Backer.
