WHITESBORO  — The Genesis Group will host its 21st Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on Sept. 9 to honor the members of law enforcement, emergency responders, firefighters and the military who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. There will also be a special ceremony to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. at Hart’s Hill Inn, 135 Clinton St., Whitesboro. The cost to attend is $20. Reservations can be made at www.TheGenesisGroup.org.

The guest speaker at the breakfast will be Maureen Casey, chief operating officer for the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University. Before joining the IVMF, Casey was a managing director for JPMorgan Chase and Co., where she oversaw the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs. Under Casey’s leadership, the office was responsible for the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a pledge with other companies to hire 100,000 veterans in 10 years. The office was also responsible for the Chase Home Awards program – a commitment by the firm to award 1,000 mortgage-free homes to veterans through its nonprofit partners. Under Casey’s leadership, the Mission grew to nearly 200 companies, hired more than 240,000 veterans in less than three years and awarded more than 750 homes.

From 1997 to 2002, Casey served as counsel to the first deputy commissioner and later as deputy commissioner for policy and planning for the New York Police Department (NYPD). In this position, Casey played a large role in the NYPD’s response to the 9/11 attacks.
