WHITESBORO — The Genesis Group honored 14 local small businesses and nonprofit organizations by providing funding through their Small Business Assistance Program. The program provides financial assistance in the form of grants and incentives to help support small businesses and nonprofit organizations with fewer than 50 employees in the Mohawk Valley.

The Genesis Group, along with NBT Bank, Townsquare Media and Hummel’s Office Plus, as additional sponsors, provided funding to the businesses and organizations in the form of a cash award, advertising or a gift certificate.

“As a community bank, NBT believes that the best way for us to provide support is to be a true partner,” said Alicia Brockway, business banking regional manager for NBT Bank and chairperson for the Genesis Group’s Small Business Assistance Program. “By investing in relationships, we’re better aligned to support our customers and economy because ultimately, small business plays a vital role in the growth of our community.”

The 14 businesses and organizations received a combined total of $7,500 in awards:

$1,000 cash award

$500 cash award

  • Jervis Public Library
  • Friends of German Flatts Town Park
  • Turner Farm Organic Dairy
  • W.W. Custom Clad Inc.
  • Move Breathe Live LLC
  • Clean It Exterior House Wash

$500 toward Town Square Media Advertising

  • Uticrews Apparel Company
  • Compass Financial Wellness
  • Tricia Sticca Professional Coaching
  • Inizio Technology Solutions LLC

$500 toward Hummel’s Office Plus Supplies

  • Hilltop Marketing

Tricia Sticca Professional Coaching, one of the 14 award recipients, provides workshops, group coaching and individual coaching to leaders in the community. Tricia Sticca who owns and operates the business will be utilizing the funds to help market her upcoming retreat for female leaders who are looking to reflect on the past year and plan for the upcoming year.

“The Genesis Group, NBT [Bank], Townsquare Media and Hummel’s [Office Plus] truly sees the value of small business in our area,” Sticca said. “Providing these opportunities will help all of us create a stronger community.”
