A Boilermaker 15K runner passing by the 5K starting line excitedly jumped into Gary Spears' — otherwise known as "Big Poppa" from Mix 102.5 — arms as she ran by. When she was gone, Spears said with a laugh, "Do I know her?"

For a while, 2022 Boilermaker runners would trickle over Burrstone Road bridge. When herds of people passed over it, the bridge could be felt bouncing.

Early on at Burrstone Road during the 2022 Boilermaker, leading competitors would fly by alone as they set themselves apart during the strenuous 15K journey. Several minutes later, larger crowds of competitors would pass this mark.

Burrstone Road bridge made for the perfect stretching arena before the 2022 Boilermaker 5K. Many who spoke with the Sentinel didn't describe themselves as athletes — they were just there to have a good time.

The crowd was massive and spirits were high as 2022 Boilermaker 5K competitors made their mark for the start of the race. Over 2,000 runners participated in the 5K.
