Fun Fly on Saturday, Aug. 7, free for both flyers, spectators

WESTMORELAND — Visitors and Academy of Model Aeronautics radio controlled flyers are invited to the annual Fun Fly at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. The event is free for both spectators and flyers, organizers said.

The event rain date is Sunday, Aug. 8.

The event will be held at the Paradise R/C Field, 6361 Route 5. Flyers club officials said the site is three miles east of Vernon across from Brennans R/C Hobbies.

A pilot’s briefing will be held at 9 a.m. and repeated for those arriving later in the day. The event is expected to run all day. Paradise R.C.

Spectators can watch “R/C flyers put their model airplanes through aerobatic maneuvers” and AMA members can bring their planes and fly them. Those interested in selling can bring a table. The event offers food, beverages and raffles of R/C equipment.

Club officials have stated, “We are a club dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of the RC modeling hobby. Our members make up a cross section of modeling experience spanning the range from gas powered airplanes to electric powered airplanes, gliders and helicopters.”

The club has more than 50 members, event organizers added.
