FRANKFORT — A 25-year-old man wanted on criminal charges in the State of Texas was located in Herkimer County on Thursday, according to the Frankfort Police Department.

Police said Nelson Navar Jr., formerly of Texas, was located during a traffic stop on Cemetery Street in Frankfort on Jan. 5. A background check on Navar uncovered active arrest warrants out of Texas. The details of the wanted crimes were not released.

Navar was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice and he was taken to the Herkimer County jail, authorities said. He is awaiting extradition.
