Shawangunk Nature Preserve, a not-for-profit deep-ecology, 500-acre learning and culture center in Cold Brook, has scheduled the following free workshops through early December:

• “Functioning Well with Difficult Feelings,” 10:30 to noon Nov. 9.

A state-certified counselor with 60 years of experience will offer wisdom on practical ways to manage the feelings and parts of ourselves that can make life unpleasant and difficult.

• Beaded puppet ornament: 10:30 to noon Nov. 16. Beads from old jewelry and a bit of wire will be turned into adorable figurines that will add charm and color any place you hang them.

Bring your own collection or draw from our own to create your unique “people.” Materials: $10.

• Balsam weather, kissing ball or centerpiece, one hour between 9 a.m. and noon on Nov. 30 or Dec. 7. Fresh, fragrant balsam from the Shawangunk Preserve can be worked into your choice of decoration.

Please call ahead to reserve your time and materials, and please dress warmly. Materials $15.
