ROME — The public is invited to come out to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season at the Christmas in The City event from 5-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10 at the former NYS Armory, 1110 Black River Blvd.

The event is free for everyone. Organizers hope that not only will it become a wonderful Christmas family memory, but it will also be something that the family anticipates next year.

On entering the gates, guests will immediately be immersed in the sights and sounds of the season. There are horse-drawn wagon rides, the story of Christmas coming alive in the interactive Christmas village, a live nativity, live music and caroling, bonfires, food from local food trucks, live animals and a photo backdrop to capture the memories.

Inside, guests are welcomed into the wonderful Christmas market. Beautiful live Christmas music and the aroma of Christmas cookies and wassail are the first things to notice.

Then, throughout the space, there are various artisans presenting live demonstrations of their craft, artists painting, live performers and many vendors providing a delightful shopping experience for holiday gift giving.
