Frank J. DeCarolis, 54, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Rome on June 2, 1964, the son of the late Gicamino and Edith (Darrah) DeCarolis. He was a 1983 graduate of Rome Free Academy where he was a standout football player for the Black Knights and still holds the record for most QB sacks in a single game.
Frank was a member of the Local 35 Laborer’s Union of Utica for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, watching football and loved animals, but most of all he adored his two daughters. He loved spending time with them and watching them play sports.
Frank is survived by: two daughters and a son-in-law, Karlie DeCarolis of Rochester and Karina and Peyton Amato of Theresa, NY; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Paula and Carl Mengle of Weatherly, PA, and Vita Aquino of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Gicamino and Denise DeCarolis, Jr. of Taberg; a grandson, Sawyer; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew, Gicamino III; and his dog, Jazz.
