LATHAM — Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the State of New York, has announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
The promotions include the following area residents:
Rasheed Brooks, of Rome, specialist, assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry.
Joshua Butera, of Cleveland, private first class, assigned to the 204th Engineer Detachment;
Joseph Myers, of Rome, private, assigned to the Company D, 3-142nd Aviation; and
William Whitmarsh, of Holland Patent, specialist, assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 102nd Military Police Battalion.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential. The promotions recognize the best qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber Citizen Soldiers, according to Shields’ announcement.
