Four injured in head-on collision on Route 5 in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND — Four people were hospitalized following a head-on collision on Route 5 Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies said Jordan Pallotta, 30, of Oneida, was westbound at 5:55 p.m. when his 2004 Jeep Liberty veered into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into a 2014 Kia Sol, driven by Jeffery Kane, 53, of Oneida.

Authorities said Pallotta and Kane suffered minor injuries.

Kane’s front-seat passenger, 46-year-old Brenda Alli, suffered serious injuries to her legs, arm and back, deputies said. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A 13-year-old female passenger in Kane’s vehicle also suffered injuries. All four people were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for treatment.

No tickets have been issued so far, authorities said, adding that the investigation is
continuing.
