Four hospitalized following Verona crash
VERONA — Four people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Route 365 in Verona Saturday evening, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies said Mateo Irizarra, 21, of Rome, was driving on Route 365 around 7:15 p.m. Saturday when he failed to stop at the red light at the intersection with Willow Street. Irizarra's 2009 Nissan sedan crashed into the front driver's side of a 2020 Chevy pickup truck, driven by Paul Boucher, 34, of Rome.
Irizarra and his passenger, 22-year-old Leah Sutton, of Utica, were treated at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, authorities said, while Boucher and his passenger, 45-year-old Jamel Briant, of Rome, were treated at Rome Health. None of the injuries were life threatening, deputies said.
The crash remains under investigation and traffic tickets are pending, authorities said.
