Four from VVS attend leadership conference in Washington, D.C.


Four Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school district students attended a Washington Leadership Conference (WLC )in Washington, D.C., the VVS school district said.

At the conference, students learned the WLC curriculum and different leadership skills, visited the Capitol Building, and met with Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, the district noted.

VVS FFA Vice President Danann Lohr said “the Washington Leadership Conference is a very eye-opening conference, it helps you experience things you’d only read about in school. WLC helped me see how I want to help change the world.” According to, “the WLC curriculum is based on the four tenants ME, WE, DO, and SERVE. Building upon each of these four tenants gets students to the overall objective of the conference, which is becoming an engaged citizen who can make a measurable positive difference in their community.”

VVS FFA is a nonprofit youth organization with a mission of developing the potential of students for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA stands for Future Farmers of America. The National FFA Organization’s name was updated in 1988 to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the agriculture industry, according to​
