Four displaced in Clayville fire
CLAYVILLE — Four people were displaced after a house fire on Church Road in Clayville Sunday evening, according to the Clayville Fire Department. Fire officials said the alarm was raised at 6:15 p.m. and all residents escaped 2448 Church Road without injury. Volunteers from four local departments responded to the scene, with smoke and flames visible at the rear of the residence, officials stated.
Firefighters attacked the flames from multiple angles, including an aerial truck above the residence. The fire was declared under control within about 40 minutes.
Crews remained on the scene until 9 p.m. dousing hot spots and cleaning the scene. The residence sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage, officials said.
The case of the fire remains under investigation.
The Clayville, New Hartford, Sauquoit and Clinton fire departments responded, with Willowvale and Cassville on standby.
