Former MLS player signs with Utica City FC

UTICA — Utica City FC has signed midfielder Tyler Turner. In 2014, Turner became the youngest-ever player to sign with Orlando City SC of the MLS. He made seven appearances with the team.

Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Most recently, the native of Milford, Conn., was a member of the Birmingham Legion, where he earned 12 appearances during the 2019 campaign. His indoor resume includes four games and one goal with the Orlando SeaWolves during the 2018 season.

Turner, 24, has extensive international experience at the U-23, U-20, U-18 and U-17 levels. He has accumulated 30 appearances while representing the U.S., and wore the captain’s armband for the U-17 team.

“Playing for Utica is like all the cards falling into place for my career. I would have been crazy to not jump on the opportunity,” said Turner. “I’m excited to play on that famous blue turf, alongside (current UCFC player Onua) Obasi again and try to win a championship.”
