Forest Rangers rescue pair of lost campers

WEBB — A pair of lost campers were rescued by New York State forest rangers early Saturday morning in Herkimer County, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

Authorities said two campers had become separated from their group on the Stillwater Reservoir at bout 11:50 p.m. Friday.

Two forest rangers were dispatched to the area to conduct a search and the pair were found at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, the state authorities reported.

The lost campers and their gear were transported back to their campsite, and the forest rangers started a fire to warm them up.

Authorities said one of the campers no longer wanted to be out in the woods and she was brought back to her personal vehicle.
