LEBANON — An underage drinking party in Earlville State Forest in Madison County was broken up by forest rangers Saturday evening.

State Department of Environmental Conservation officials said they were called to Earlville State Forest in Lebanon on Saturday, June 25, for an underage drinking party. Officials said the forest rangers found about 15 to 20 young people gathered around a bonfire in the roadway.

The youths were instructed to extinguish the fire and clean up the trash at the site, before they were allowed to leave, authorities said. The forest rangers also made sure the vehicle operators were not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when they left.

Authorities added that the same rangers had been in Charles Baker State Forest earlier that evening, where they ticketed three ATV operators.
