Five face gun charges in Utica

UTICA — Five people were charged after two loaded handguns were found in a vehicle in Utica late Thursday night, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said a traffic stop on Steuben Street at about 10:30 p.m. uncovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun on one of the passengers and a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine underneath the front passenger seat. Police said five people were in the vehicle and all five were taken into custody.

Two of the individuals were underage, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, and their identities were not released. Police said the 15-year-old had the .22 caliber handgun in the back seat. They were both charged with weapons possession.

Robert Bradley, 21, of Utica, Lewis Taylor, 22, of Utica, and Xavior Robinson, 18, of Utica, are all charged with one count each of second-degree possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police stated. Bradley is additionally charged with one count of third-degree possession of a weapon, authorities stated. All three are scheduled to appear in City Court.
