Firefighters recover body of victim in fatal house fire in Vienna

TOWN OF VIENNA — One person is dead following a house fire on Deeley Road in the Town of Vienna Wednesday night.

The fire does not appear suspicious at this time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The alarm was raised at 9:25 p.m. and volunteers from four departments responded to 8211 Deeley Road, just southeast of McConnellsville. Responding firefighters reported the structure fully involved on arrival.

Authorities said there were reports that someone might be trapped inside the home.

Deputies said the fire was out and the building was safe to enter by 12:30 a.m., which is when the body of an adult was found inside. Deputies said the body was secured by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The McConnellsville, Taberg, Vienna and Camden fire departments responded. McConnellsville and Taberg returned to the scene this morning for a reported rekindle at about 8:30 a.m.
