Fire strikes Trenton farm again

TOWN OF TRENTON — Fire has struck again at the Terry Jones Farm on Whittaker Road, with a silo catching fire less than a week after a large barn fired killed nearly 200 head of cattle.

Fire officials said a silo fire was called in to 9-1-1 at about 7:30 a.m. today, as one of four silos started burning on the inside at 10306 Whittaker Road. The four silos had all been scorched and the contents heated up during a barn fire at the farm Sunday morning.

Volunteers from three departments responded to the scene this morning, bringing along a ladder truck from Whitesboro to get down into the grain inside the silo.

Nearly 200 cows were killed in the Sunday barn fire.

The Holland Patent, Barneveld and Whitesboro fire departments responded to this morning’s silo fire.
