UTICA — Seven people have been displaced, including three children, following an attic fire on Roberts Street in Utica Monday afternoon, according to the Utica Fire Department.

The alarm was raised shortly after 3 p.m. for a fire at 734 Roberts St., a multi-family dwelling on the city’s west side. Firefighters responded and authorities said a search of the residence found the flames in the attic of the home.

Officials said the fire was contained to the attic and knocked down within an hour. Officials said the first and second-floor apartments sustained enough water damage that the families were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting four adults and three children, ages 1, 4 and 7.

No one was injured, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
