Felony charge for violating order of protection in Rome
ROME — A 41-year-old man has been charged with threatening his wife in violation of an order of protection, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Jeremy H. Godwin, of Rome, got into an argument with his wife at her home on East Bloomfield Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday when she told him to leave. Police said Godwin has an order of protection filed against him on her behalf.
During the argument, police said Godwin grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened the woman.
Godwin was taken into custody on one count each of felony first-degree contempt and second-degree menacing, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
Police said Godwin was also charged on an open arrest warrant for second-degree contempt from a prior order violation against his wife on Sept. 7.
