The R-CATS Program will co-host a fun family event with the Rome Capitol Theatre on Friday, Nov. 15, with the Second Annual New York Cat Festival, a collection of short films exploring the mystique of fascinating felines.
The event starts at 7 p.m. and runs for two hours. Tickets are $10 at the door, but patrons can receive a $2 discount for bringing a donation of cat food or litter. The event will also include a a cat costume contest and a 50/50 raffle sponsored by the R-CATS Program, event organizers said.
People can also meet some cats who are looking for their "furever" home and have the opportunity to bid on a custom painting of one of downtown's most well known kitties: Kalli, the formerly homeless feline that has called the Capitol home for some time now.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the R-CATS Program and all money raised by the program at this event will be used to spay/neuter and vaccinate the homeless cats in the City of Rome, according to the announcement by event organizers.
