UTICA — Celebrate the changing of the seasons at the Falling for Utica Festival on Sunday, Oct. 14, from noon to 4 p.m. at Handshake.City
This “awesome autumn event,” as organizing group Made In Utica is calling it, is free and “fun for all ages.”
Attendees will find great local vendors selling art, home decor, soaps, scarves and more. A variety of food trucks will be on hand with beer from Copper City Brewing Company of Rome.
There will be live music from local alternative band Our Common Roots along with yard games and plenty for the kids to do, too. Pumpkin painting, ring toss, coffee sack races and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow puppet show from The Guild of Thespian Puppets at noon.
Inside the Handshake.City warehouse from 1-2 p.m. is Family Yoga Fun with Beautiful Dream Yoga and instructor Sarah Nycole.
This class will use songs and games to learn about different yoga poses and meditation and breathing. The class is designed to promote togetherness, mindfulness, and peace for both children and adults. There is a suggested $10 donation for the class.
Handshake.City co-founder Katie Reilly encourages anyone who hasn’t been down to the park yet to come check out Falling for Utica. “Where else can you enjoy a beer or coffee with your dog, listen to music, check out artwork from over 15 local artists and support local business, too?” Reilly says.
Handshake.City is a non-profit initiative from Made In Utica made possible in part thanks to the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties. For more information about the festival or for a listing of future park events, visit handshake.city.
