Fall festival in Remsen to raise funds to fight breast cancer

REMSEN — Food trucks, music and crafts will all be part of the festivities on Saturday, Sept. 26, for a fall festival fundraiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, sponsored by the team Penguin Platoon. The event will be held in the parking lot of the Soda Fountain, 9698 Main St.

The Mac Factor, featuring gourmet macaroni and cheese; the Stathis Greek food truck; and Oldies & Goodies Fried Dough/Fresh Squeezed Lemonade will be on site from noon until 4 p.m.

Starting at 11 a.m., craft booths, including Imagination Creations by Rebecca; Wreaths by Bev; Odds & Ends by Anne; Alpacas 4 Pleasure Farm, featuring alpaca fiber products; North Country Vinyl Designs, with shirts and mugs; Robyn’s Egg Jewelry; Thirty-One, and Avon, the national sponsor of Making Strides, are all scheduled to participate.

The Penguin Platoon team will have a booth filled with merchandise from the American Cancer Society to help people prepare for the upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. There will be long sleeve tie-dyed shirts, tie-dyed masks, can koozies, insulated mugs, candles, pins and other items. The team will also sell raffle tickets for a chance to win a Ferris commercial mower donated by Clinton Tractor. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Booths will be set up until 4 p.m.

There will also be live music from noon until 4 p.m. featuring a variety of local singers, including Taryn Surprenant, Rebecca Miner, Rick Boxall and Crooked Keel.

The food truck event is a grab-and-go process, there are no tables or chairs provided. People may bring their own chairs to enjoy the music but should maintain social distance from others not in your party.

Everyone is required to wear a mask covering over nose and mouth, and keep social distance within the vendor booths and while waiting in line at the food trucks.

The Remsen Farmers Market will also be held that day from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., in front of the Didymus Thomas Library on Main Street.
