Falcon program, winter wreaths among events at Great Swamp
CANASTOTA — The Great Swamp Conservancy (GSC) has events of the bird and holiday variety coming up in November.
• On Saturday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. the Cornell Raptor program will be putting on a presentation at the Great Swamp Conservancy, located at 8375 N. Main St. This will feature a live falcon and educate the public about the life history of these beautiful creatures and the chance to see one up close and personal.
Admission is $5, $4 for members. For more information, email: greatswampconservancy@gmail.com or call 315-697-2950.
• On Nov. 26 learn a skill making a natural evergreen wreath for your door or as a gift for a friend at the GSC wreath workshop.
There are two classes that will be offered, one from 10 a.m. to noon and the other from 1 to 3 p.m.
Bring a family member or a group of friends for the activity and enjoy the fragrance of the pine. Brianne and Rusty will have attendees winding the boughs in no time to create this special holiday décor. According to the Great Swamp, this has been a very successful and fun program.
Bring a wire coat hanger and pruning shears; GSC provides the wire, boughs, pine cones, and bow (unless you want to bring your own bow/decorations). Classes are limited to 20 per class at a fee of $25 per person. Pre-registration is required via: checks made out to GSC 8375 N. Main St., Canastota, NY, 13032; Paypal by using email greatswampconservancy@gmail.com; or stop in the office Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to pay in person.
